About the 2 Cajuns

Born and raised in South Louisiana, in the middle of Cajun Country, Vernon come from a family of great cooks.

His grandmother came from the days when the basic meat came from the yard. She was always known for her home made crawfish bisque, gumbos, etoufee’s and many other sauces and gravies.

Vernon’s dad was another influence in his cooking endeavors. He would stand around the stove many times just to stir in the pot.

Vernon learned from him how to make the everyday meals that consisted of pork , beef and several seafood dishes.

One of Vernon’s favorite meals to cook is a real pure pork Cajun style jambalaya. Another one of my favorites to cook is gumbo, which can be made with chicken, sausage, many different types of seafood, and wild game.

Everything that I cook is done with real authentic southern

Louisiana tradition. Any time I put my “Doosay” label on something that I cook, it will be 100% certified Cajun,, and hopefully appealing to your idea of what True Cajun cooking should be.

Ryan Cormier

Ryan is from Krotz Springs, Louisiana. His parents are from Kaplan Louisiana which is deep in South Louisiana.

As soon as Ryan and his siblings could see over the stove, his mother stopped cooking breakfast for them on a daily basis and the training began. As early as middle school they would cook supper for the family (at first with their guidance and help, then on their own), their parents wanted to ensure we not only knew how to cook, but were good cooks when they left their house.

Ryan remembers talking about cooking with his father, who was a great cook, and hearing Cajun bed time stories from his grandmother that started like this, “First, you make a rue....”

After getting out of the Navy, Ryan worked his way through college as a Fire Fighter. The fire house he was assigned was full of great Cajun Cooks, and he views it as his final course on Cajun Cooking. It was there that he truly honed my skills as a cook.

“Moving out to West Texas is great for BBQ, Steaks and Mexican cuisine but if you want Cajun Cooking, you have to do it yourself,” that’s when my partner said he was retiring and going into the catering business. I told him do that here in Midland / Odessa and fill a need.
